Who is Spirit of Remembrance? We are a fully dedicated Battlefield & Remembrance tour & travel company specialising in HIGH QUALITY battlefield tours and travel - especially for family history/genealogy research for our New Zealand clients (!) and Australians - with our company owned and operated by Australians.

We at Spirit are passionate about our ethos and our core identity: Remembrance. Our philosophy and goal is to "Perpetuate Remembrance" to living and future generations through education, knowledge and inspiration. Spirit pays tribute to those whose sacrifices, extraordinary courage and immense bravery gave us the freedom we enjoy today.Spirit was born of a fierce determination to provide affordable, high quality special REMEMBRANCE  & FAMILY HISTORY global travel experiences with the best specialist battlefield guides in the world, providing the highest standards of customer service, ethics and travel experience possible.

We are NOT  a budget tour operator that promotes/sells our services via 'budget price leaders' (and make you pay extra for a host of extras along the way.) We firmly believe that our customers should be treated as we like to be treated when we travel: with great care, EXPERT product and historical background knowledge, total professionalism and high quality product(s) and services included throughout your travel experience with us.

Our founders hail from a proud military history background, with our Managing Director & our Marketing & Sales Director both having extensive interests and historical knowledge in Armed Forces remembrance events, with our Marketing & Sales Director also a Vietnam veteran

Of great importance is that our Battlefield and Remembrance tours are NOT a 10 minute 'bus stop' in a car park near a battlefield. They are designed with great care and great research - all tailored to our clients individual needs.

Our expert battlefield historian guides and our expert research division provide extensive family history research on your ancestors - both in New Zealand and here in the UK/Europe with a variety of *top level UK and NZ forces resources (*some actually closed to the public) such as the National Archives, Regimental HQ's, Army/Air Force records etc plus Red Cross archives, Trench Maps, Artillery Maps etc.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance We only use highly experienced EXPERT historian guides, most of whom are members of the elite Guild of Battlefield Guides who besides being overall experts for battlefield & remembrance tours are also individual experts for specific battles and battlegrounds for New Zealand Forces.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance Being based here in the UK we have the main New Zealand & Australian theatres of war for WW1 & WW2 located on our doorstep in France and Belgium ( World War 1 - The Western Front). World War 2 saw New Zealand forces fighting in the Battle of Greece, Battle of Crete, the North Africa/Western Desert campaign, Tunisia, the Middle East and North Africa - also countries we know extremely well.

In England during WW2 New Zealand airmen were extremely prominent in the RAF across all sections especially Fighter and Bomber Command, with New Zealander Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park leading Fighter Command in the Battle of Britain in 1940. (*See our 2020 80th Anniversary Battle of Britain Tour - now released)

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance We can also tailor make your Battlefield tours specifically to suit YOUR individual needs. Our ability to tailor make special itineraries - from 1 person to 500 makes us unique. We also operate a number of small specialist fixed date departure small group tours. We mix and match by accommodation, transport and specific itinerary to suit your requirements and your budget - using wherever possible quality accommodation and modern transport options with a dedicated expert historian/guide.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance We can also put together either 'drive yourself' tours or mini-bus driver/guide  tours (also with an expert historian/guide). For instance, we can tailor make a special Western Front WW1 tour in France and Belgium including all NZ forces battlefields and memorials - either directly from London or from Paris including London and or Paris accommodation and attractions.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance Our tours are structured to cater for all: individuals, small groups, family groups and larger groups. Both our Battlefield and Remembrance tours 'walk the ground' where your NZ ancestors fought, i.e. WW1 and the Western Front, often pinpointing the area where they fell (the Somme, Messines Ridge, Passchendaele, Amiens and Le Quesnoy) and visiting their graves or NZ memorials: (Longueval, Caterpillar Valley, Le Quesnoy and the tunnels of Arras). Our expert battlefield historian guides can also do extensive family history research on your ancestors here in the UK with a variety of *top level resources (*some actually closed to the public) such as the National Archives, Regimental HQ's, Army/Air Force records etc.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance What we believe that sets us apart as one of the best in the business for battlefield tours and remembrance travel - along with family history research - is our award-winning customer service, our specialised tour guides, our unique Advisory Board with its specialist remembrance background, and our management team's depth and range of experience.

The Flanders Poppy - The Spirit of Remembrance Our client testimonials simply say it all.. "The trip was one of the most moving and powerful experiences of my life.
